Through the popularization of the extreme couponing shows, it began to peak my interest as to how much these people where saving and how, sometimes, they were getting paid. I started gathering coupons from the newspaper and online to see if I could get the same results. However, I noticed I spend twice the time at the grocery rooting through coupons and then buying things I wouldn’t normally buy. For me, I wasn’t able to spend the high amount of hours to yield the extreme results the people depicted on TV had. I wasn’t saving any money because I bought things I didn’t need. I tried to only use coupons for items I would normally get, but then I would notice a store brand that was cheaper without a coupon. That is when I decided to discontinue use. I am a very frugal person so it’s very difficult for my purchasing decisions to be influenced.
