Coupons have had an effect on purchasing for over a century now, it not only allows you to decrease the price of the product but also provides you a feeling of “wow I didn’t pay that much”. Coupons do effect your purchase decision because obviously if something is expensive and you have a voucher to decrease the price you are going to buy the less expensive product.

There is a show called Extreme Couponing where some families spend less than $5,000 a year on groceries because of the time they take out of the day to collect coupons and decide which ones are better for their expenses.  This is a lot of hard work but it is definitely worth all the time! Save money? Who wants to do more work than they need to? People that want to save money! I have seen some situations where people go overboard on collecting coupons, they even make a binder just for their coupons but honestly I can say that if I had the time or the will power to sit there every day of the year just to collect coupons I couldn’t do it.

A note from us at I’m In:  We offer lots of ways for you to save on groceries at I’m In!

One thing about these little money savers is that they are everywhere; magazines, newspapers, and even online. Of course coupons are one of the greatest things invented of all time but it does have a downfall to businesses. Many corporations like Nike, Coca-Cola, and Wal-Mart could lose money from coupons because of the high demand for them and how fast they go.  Everyday customers benefit from them all over the world, different countries have different “coupons” or waivers to decrease the products price by a landslide.

Did you know that over 89% of the population uses coupons on every day needs like groceries, house hold appliances and heath care products at supermarkets? People love coupons, it gives them a sense of security over having to pay a lot of money for the things they need or want at the time.  Every company provides some kind of discount on their products, whether it be by buying one and getting the other half off or if you purchase this item you will get it the next time for free when you purchase it again.

Looking for coupons prior to my shopping has never been something I have done. It just takes too long, I would rather just buy whatever it is I am buying than to sit there and look around for coupons all day.  As I get older though I start to be wiser with my money so now I actually take time to look for certain discount on the things I buy. It make take longer but it definitely is worth the time because at the end of the day you are saving more money than you usually would. Some items have halted my purchase of them because of me not having a coupon.  If you know there is a coupon for a product or item that you want to buy at the time and you don’t have it with you but you see what you want right in front of you then it would be better to just wait for what you want.

What would life without coupons be like? A terrible one I know that, if all of a sudden the government just took away coupons I am sure that people would have a huge say, they may even protest for them to come back. I don’t think people would know how to live without coupons especially the ones that do it every day for a living.  Honestly though I think coupons are here to stay though, it gives everyone joy and no one wants to spend more money than they have to. For the person that invented coupons I thank them for giving us something we can benefit from when it comes to shopping for the things that we love and care for.
