I was raised in a household where everything was bought full price, and money wasn’t an issue. But in 2012, my older brother was diagnosed with cancer. Not only did this put a damper on our lives, but it put a damper on our financial standpoint as well. All I wanted to do was help my family in anyway possible, and coupons were exactly that. My Grandmother and I took up couponing. After many late night episodes of extreme couponing and a whole lot hours spent on cutting coupons, we became extremist. We got to where we could go and buy three hundred dollars worth of stuff and only pay seventeen dollars for it. We quickly learned that not only would this take our minds off of what was going on at home, but it would also give us the opportunity to provide to our family. Ever since then coupons have made me realize that there is no excuse to buy an item full price. Those little sheets of paper in every Sunday paper have changed my life drastically. They are something that no person should ever pass up.
