Because of this coupon, you get to save $0.50, and just because 50 cents doesn’t seem like that much, imagine if you had a few more coupons for other things that you need. You’re adding up to a bunch of savings that you can use to buy other important things and get a few bills paid. When my mother goes shopping, she looks for savings: sales, markdowns, and most importantly, coupons. With coupons, it really opens up what we need and what we can wait to buy. It is more likely that my mother would buy things that she has coupons for because my family, along with millions of families all over the world, tries to save as much money as we can. Coupons make it better for families on a budget to get what they need or want for a lower price, and because they can get it for cheaper, it is more likely that they will buy this.
On many occasions, my mother and I were walking through the aisles in our local grocery store and we’d stumble upon a person with a sales paper in her hands. As that person was standing in front of a selection of cans, they would take a look at the paper, and then grab an item. Why would they be doing this? Some brands give coupons for their items so that they can sell more than another brand. Say for instance you want to buy a can of green beans for dinner and you see a row that has 3 different types of brands of green beans. Although the beans inside of the can are the same, the prices are not. With that in mind, you will be more influenced to buy the can that you can use a coupon for.
Although, sometimes, this isn’t the case, it does have a lot of influence on what people buy and it could possibly have an influence on how much they buy. Some coupons only give you a deal when you buy a certain amount, for instance “Buy 2, Get One Free”. When people look at coupons, they see savings. People who are on a budget or people who simply don’t want to pay all of their money value coupons because they help keep a smaller dent in their wallets after a trip to the grocery stores.
I personally know that people don’t like paying full price for things; I’m one of those people, so I know that when people know that they can pay less, they run after that deal. Who wouldn’t? If you can save money, it’s obvious that you could go after that sale. Coupons influence people who don’t want to pay full price. I know that not everyone thinks this way; they wouldn’t mind paying an extra few dollars for their groceries or home goods, but majority of the people I know would rather have coupons to save them a little money down the road. Not only are coupons convenient and useful, but they influence people’s buying options.
