I love to shop. I don’t know what it is, but the feeling I get when I get home and open up the shopping bags containing all my new goodies makes me feel like a little child on Christmas morning. Yes, I know it not the best feeling paying at the register for these items but that does not compare to the awesome feeling you get when you get home and finally try that new flavor pop tarts, or that new L’Oreal night moisturizer. So when it’s time to pay for these items, I like to find ways to save. For me, saving either consist of coupons, sales, and clearance items. Coupons for me are a big money saver. Yes, I am guilty of buying stuff I did not need just because I had a coupon. But hey, I am trying something totally new that has been talked about. I, like every other human being, want to be in the know.

Couponing does influence my purchasing decisions. Every Sunday when I look at the Sunday Newspaper inserts, I always find coupons for pretty much anything and always end up cutting up a few out. If I find a high value coupon on an item that I have been meaning to try, you sure know I will be at the store purchasing that item, although I know that I don’t necessarily need it. Same with restaurant coupons, I might have been craving Applebee’s but because I have a great coupon that expires tomorrow all of a sudden I am craving Applebee’s for dinner.
A coupon also influences me to try a different brand of a product I already use. I know that I love Gain laundry detergent but sadly Gain gives low dollar value coupons in the Sunday newspaper inserts. So if I find a higher dollar amount coupon on a different brand of laundry detergent, I do consider it and might purchase it to give a try. I’m considering on purchasing a different brand because it helps me save money and who doesn’t love to save money. Yes, I do return on using my favorite laundry detergent, but in other situations I’ve had in the pass, I have found myself liking the new product I gave a chance and find a new favorite.
Also with department store coupons, I know I don’t need any more clothes, according to my closet, but if I find a coupon from Macy’s, for example, and the coupon is take $10 off a $30 purchase. All of a sudden I’m at Macy’s buying two shirts that will probably be out of style by Christmas and also purchasing a necklace just because the two shirts did not total up to $30. Ladies don’t say this has not happen to you, because I try to be a wise spender and this somehow always seems to happen to me.
Coupons don’t just influence me to try something new or to buy things I don’t need, it also influences me to keep on buying those products I know I use and purchase every time. I keep buying those products because the manufacture keeps giving out coupons that save me money. If I can purchase the brand name and pay close to the same amount as the off brand, it makes me happy that I am getting a better quality item for a better amount.
If it’s just saving money on an item you already purchase or its saving money on a product you been meaning to try just out of curiosity, it is always a great feeling to know that you are saving some of your hard earned money. Yes, I know that sometimes we buy these products out of a great deal but hey you bought and tried a new item. So next time you are out and about shopping, consider looking for coupons before hand. Coupons do save you money, just be wise about it.
