1 day in Stuart Island, Canada ($$) — Just a short flight from Seattle or Vancouver, spend the weekend at Anderson's Nanook Lodge during the salmon brood stock capture at the Gillard Pass Hatchery! After a hearty breakfast and maybe some salmon fishing, join the Nanook team on the Phillips River netting hundreds of giant Chinook salmon that will be the brood stock for our local hatchery. Besides participating in the river capture, you will also assist hatchery pro's who will strip eggs and milt, then actually procreate salmon back at the hatchery! At the Phillips River you will also have the chance of viewing grizzly bears and one of the most beautiful river systems in North America.
Nanook Lodge will be your home base for gourmet seafood dining and warm cedar rooms featuring private baths and ocean views. This trip can be for 2-16 guests from the last week of August thru September 28. Closeup wildlife viewing of eagles, bears and whales is constantly happening in the Stuart Island area. This is the nature channel in person!

Our service oriented staff offers a unique blend of urban comfort and wilderness adventure. It's just a short 95 minute seaplane ride from downtown Vancouver or Seattle to our dock!

The hatchery brood stock capture happens only for 30 days. This is a quite popular time for fishing for "Tyee" Chinooks, salmon over 30 lbs. We recommend reservations well in advance as this short season for fishing during the brood stock capture sells out. Seaplane service to the island is from Seattle or Vancouver and is fast and easy! Please call the Anderson's for details.

How to Book — Call or email for availability and pricing for your group. We also offer salmon fishing trips without the hatchery experience.
